Puppy Size

This is one of the neatest stories you will ever hear. You will know precisely what this little girl is talking about at the end (you'll want to share this one with your loved ones and special friends)!

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times.
It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.
'Puppy size!' replied the mother 'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for..' 'I know.... We have seen most of them,' the mom said in frustration...

Just then Danielle came walking into the office
'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom.

'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'
The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed 'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being
too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration. 'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning . By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.
Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look.. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.
One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'
It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said.

'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said. 'Don't you remember? When I
asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.

'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you
both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends! Life is too short and friends are too few.

More "Stuff" From OLA

I call it "stuff" as I guess I have so much of it left over from my store and it seems as some sells and is shipped something else takes it's place. It seems never ending. I hear some say they go hunting for treasures to sell on OLA.com and that is great. Mine seems to have been hiding so well I did not really realize that it was as much as that.

I am not one for the heat of the summer so I do not do the yard sale thing. I would love to have one and get rid of some of the items I have no use for any longer BUT we had contracted to have 4 trees removed as they were a danger to the power lines and we did not want to be the cause of others being in the dark. Before it was over we lost 17 trees and my favorite one was a shade tree which is no longer in our yard. I miss my shade tree very much. Therefore that is why I do not do yard sales.

Also cannot do a garage sale as by NC law we have to keep out hot dog stand in the garage 24/7 when we are not set up and selling. We set up on Saturday night in town at what is called "Pickin' on the square" and it goes from 2nd  week in May until the end of October. The town shuts down main street and about 300 people bring their lawn chairs and listen to a free concert, eat hot dogs and ice cream and visit with people they have not seen over the winter months. I love small towns and small town ways.

So I have been going through my store, lowering some prices and putting some in the "Fixed price" style auction. Hopefully that will maybe help sales. As I was taking care of some of that I realized how much I had let my store go. Some of the titles were vague, sub-titles missing totally (I know I put them in) and lowered some prices. Nothing in my store is ever written in stone and I am usually open to offers. I will need to get the rest of that done before July.

Some of the items I moved to the fixed price section I will list here and you can find more in my store by going to this link. www://ola.com/store/chateycathey

Cocker Spaniel & Two Puppies Figurines

Dog Biscuit Cookie Jar Doggie Jar

Vintage Working Taylor Weather Baroguide

Fire Engine Coin Bank NIB #M

http://www.onlineauction.com/index.php?page=auction:view_item&auction_id=1521148

These are just a few of the items I moved to fixed. I would feature others items here but as I titled it as "STUFF" I will not label their items as stuff. Mine is just that to me and theirs is what it is to them. I just hope you visit my store and find something you like and when you are done there please visit our other sellers as so many of them have great items at very reasonable prices.

Thanks for visiting my blog and please leave comments as they all count to me, good or bad, that way I know what I blog about is being read.

The Laundry Dilemma

Have you ever really noticed how much laundry detergent you are using? Oh, I know, the manufacturer puts in a scoop, right? And have you ever really LOOKED at it? Have you ever wondered WHY you don't get as many loads (or don't seem to anyway) as what they say??

Well, I use Arm & Hammer and have for years. I get the BIG box even though it's just for my husband and myself. But when they started talking "concentrated" some time back, that was when I started paying attention. WHOA!! Did I get my eyes opened!!

This is the scoop that comes with Arm & Hammer. The same style and size that came with the, should I say, UN-concentrated. This little scoop holds about 1 1/8 cups. Amazing, huh? Concentrated? What's that all about?

Well, if you look REALLY CLOSE, you will see three lines. Number 3 is about half way down the side. Number two is lower than that and number one is really close to the bottom.

Now, the 1 and 2 is going to be what I'm talking about for a bit. Please excuse the funny lines and drawing!! I'm not really that good with the brush in Paint!!

For most loads, Arm & Hammer recommends going up to line 1 or 2. Wanna know how much that REALLY is? Line 2 is about 1/4 cup!!

And line 1 is only about 1/8 cup!!! Wow!!!

Now, line 3 is approximately 1/2 cup!! So why are they putting in this huge scoop?

Well, I'll tell you why. . . . . . and I'm not picking on Arm & Hammer. This is going on with most, if not all, laundry detergents, liquids included. They hope that you fill that ole scoop up to the brim and use it 8 times faster than recommended!!! Then you buy more!! Perpetuation of business!!

So, the next time you do laundry, take the time out to figure out what you REALLY need!! Replace their scoop with an inexpensive measuring cup!! That will keep you using the amount you really should . . . . . and your clothes will thank you!!

So, now that I've given you something to think about . . . . what do you do when the laundry is going? Need a good book? Like crafts to work on while in the basement doing the laundry? We have all KINDS of things for you to do in between loads!!

Our store, KornKountryTreasures, has several different colors of yarn for crocheting, knitting or other crafts!!

DustyCorners has oodles of various patterns just waiting for you!!

MaggieMayBeCrafty just listed this awesome, yummy recipe book!! And she also has tons of craft items, bookmarks, handcrafted jewelry and much more!!

FleaPirates has some great stuff in her store, including this awesome jigsaw puzzle!!

And there are so many other things that we could tempt you with!!

So, pop on over to OLA.com!! You will be glad you did!!

Whats Up With OLA.com

Well let me start by trying to let you know what's up with  www://ola.com. The most and foremost thing I would like to say is that there have been some changes to OLA and things are being done for the better of the site and all who sell and buy here.

Prices have not changed! Still only $8.00 a month and you can list thousands of items for that $8.00 with no hidden fees to shock you. If you sell an item for $20.00, that is your $20.00, as ola has not changed their fee structure. Likewise if you sell an item for $2,000.00, that is also your $2,000.00. No extra fees and they also do not take any of your shipping fees as do other sites. It is your business and you run it your way. Yes, if you have an issue, you can call 1-800-900-2828 and talk to a live person usually on your first call and if they need to get back to you it is the same day.

There are so many reasons why I love ola.. The biggest reason is when I joined ola.com I joined as a founding member. Cost me $96.00 a year and I pay yearly and I know up front that is all it is going to cost me FOR LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP. Now as the economy changes and if for some reason ola  has to change their fee structure in the future it will not affect me. I am set for as long as I want to be here at $96.00 a year. You will not find that anywhere else.

Another reason is the ease of listing and you can choose auto re-list and forget about it until you do maintenance on your site. I had an issue I was not able to control and had several items re-listed for me at 14 times and listed for 14 days at a time. I am over it and do not let them go like that anymore but if I am listing new items I do not have to go through all my listings at one time and re-list them as it is done for me.

Next is the family ties on ola. Yes we are like a family here. ALL for ONE and ONE for ALL. When this site succeeds we all succeed and we share ideas and thoughts and plans and each others items. There is a community section where most of us gather to chat back and forth and also share what we just listed in the "What's for sale" section. List it and go there and share it. We tweet each others items, facebook, google+, and I have just started sharing with my kindle, which I think is kind of cool but I need to get deeper into it to get ALL the benefits out of it.

Now I would like to share some of what is for sale on OLA.com
