Christmas Hint #24 -- Outdoor Decorations

Outside decorations don’t have to be elaborate. A string of lights inside a window looks great from the outside and it’s easy to take down. If you run it from the bottom corners up to the middle top, it looks like a Christmas Tree from the outside. Weave some tinsel in with it and it looks even better from inside and out.

When our granddaughter outgrew hew baby clothes and stuffed animals, I dressed the critters in her baby Christmas outfits. I moved the couch up to the picture window so I could use the couch back to prop up the critters, facing out. The display turned out so cute, people actually knocked on our door to tell us how much they enjoyed it and it didn’t cost a penny.

The Joy of Pigging Out

Ah, Thanksgiving Dinner, with all the trimmings. Did you eat too much? Many people do, on special days like today. (I believe the reaction is called a food coma!) At our house, the turkey baked all afternoon, while we enjoyed football and did some holiday decorating. Then about 6pm, we basked in The Joy of Pigging Out.

Did you know there's even a book celebrating that?

Check it out, at FleaPirates!

And now I need a nap! :)

Yes, I will be doing a little bit of 4am Black Friday shopping, as well as patronizing some local businesses on Small Business Saturday... and finishing up with some great online shopping on Cyber Monday!

While you're planning your holiday shopping, don't forget to stop by OnlineAuction.com, where you'll find bargains galore!

Turkey - it's not just for Thanksgiving!

Got a buncha left over bird?? Here are a few really simple ideas..

Turkey cranberry roll-up
(You can do this as a sandwich as well as a tortilla.) Spread some cranberry sauce, put some turkey on top of it, and roll. It has all the flavor of Thanksgiving with almost none of the work.
Turkey lentil stew
Soak your lentils until they are soft. Cook them in water with some garlic, thyme, salt, and a bay leaf until the lentils have made something of a mushy mess. Add the turkey and make sure it's all heated through.
Turkey and noodles
Cook up some egg noodles. For a sauce, heat up some creamy soup (cream of mushroom, cream of celery, etc..) and add some turkey and browned onions. Put the turkey topping over the noodles and serve. Yum!

I want to wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I could start counting my blessings and the list would be very long. I will not bore you with that as we all have many many things to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving Wishes

Thanksgiving Delights

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!

WAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP.
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE,
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT.

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION,
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.
SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR,
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.
GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.
I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY,
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.
BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.
