LIFE IS SHORT...LIVE IT TO THE FULLEST AND HAVE FUN AT IT.

My Friends

I must say, I have met the most fantastic people on OLA.com. I consider them my friends and feel very fortunate that I have them.

I came to OLA.com from the bay because I simply couldn't afford to sell on their site anymore. I was selling and had great feedback but I was losing more that I was making, in fees.

I had joined OLA.com in 2008 and then forgot I had joined. In December 2009, my dad asked how much I made selling online? When I actually sat down and figured all the fees in, I found someone was making a lot of money but it sure wasn't me!

I remembered I had joined OLA.com and changed my membership from a free buyer to a seller at $8 a month. And, whoa, Nellie!! I found a whole community of people willing to take the time to help me, support me, give me instruction, share their secrets in "how to do it", and so much more!! This was a new angle for me! I had been in a cut-throat community where one seller didn't share with the next because of the competition!! All of a sudden, I was in a community where people CARED if I succeded or not!! Wow!! What an eye opener!!

Since then, I have upgraded to a store and pay $96.00 a year FOR LIFE!! Never higher!! NO listing fees, NO final transaction fees!! And I have so much fun decorating the store!

Now, originally, I changed over because of the money factor and the way the bay treated people, even those with 100% ratings! But I found that I love OLA.com because of the PEOPLE!! Yes, I make more money than I did at the bay but it's the people that truly amaze me. I consider each of them my friends. We share ideas, thoughts, hopes and dreams. We tell each other what can be done to improve sales and we bolster each other during those tough times!!

So, to all my friends at OLA.com, I thank you. This holiday season, I thank God that I found this site and the wonderful people on it. You are my friends and I am forever grateful.

Come on over and meet some of my friends at OLA.com!! You will be so glad that you did!! And join up in the Community where there are games, sales, jokes and more!!

Thank you!

Christmas Hint #8--Christmas Journal

Think about your gift-giving list. Is anyone having a “first”? First Christmas together, baby’s first Christmas, first Christmas in a new house, etc.? If so, consider a journal, scrapbook, or photo album as a gift. Christmas journals are really fun. Everybody writes something and includes lots of pictures. The journal gets put away with the Christmas decorations and usually forgotten. It’s great to pull out every year and reminisce about previous holidays. Here are some scrapbooking items from OLA.

Store Decorating for Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, OLA Store Owners have replaced the ghosts, spiders and pumpkins of Halloween with bountiful images of the autumn harvest and breathtaking fall colors. This holiday offers no prize for creative design, as OLA management seems to be holding out to see what members can dream up for Christmas! Contest or not, those who love to decorate can always be found bringing fresh life to their storefronts with graphics to suit the season.

Take mine, for example, (FleaPirates)... the lovely painting shown above now invites you to leisurely browse my store, much as the two folks in the painting are taking a leisurely walk down this hauntingly beautiful autumn path.

I wonder how many different store decorations you could find at OnlineAuction.com right now?

For sure, I have not discovered them all! I would, however, like to share just a peek at some of my favorite fall-themed stores. Be sure to click on their names and visit their store directly, so that the full effect of their decorating can be enjoyed. You never know... you might find just the treasure you're hunting for, if you take the time to visit! OLA members have the best deals!

KornKountryTreasures has combined poetry, motion and music to set the stage for these cute youngsters to welcome you!

SuperGranny has stepped out this season Art-Deco Style, with perfectly matched shades of orange, purple and black. Stunning!

Aesthetics48 is OLA's November Seller of the Month! Stop by her store and you'll see exactly why!

And Jaswood2 is featuring classic Thanksgiving this season. Her store is always beautifully decorated. Stop by often, or you might miss something extraordinary!

Christmas Gift Suggestions

"Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect." ~ Oren Arnold
One of my favorite thoughtful but EASY gifts is the gift of.........(drum roll)........grass.
I personally suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD, (the lack of sunlight) beginning in the late fall and I crave seeing green and having some grass to watch grow.  I've done this for probably 20 years and each year it is fun to see what I can come up with to plant my 'tiny yard' in.  I am no clinical researcher but this small thing definitely brightens my days and I feel better so I keep doing it.

I go to a seed store or probably a hardware store that sells seed.  I buy perennial rye because it is so easy to grow.  It is a perennial so don't fling it out in your yard.....it'll grow grow grow.  I like the broad leaves of the rye but there are any number of seeds you can grow.

Line your container with a seed starter tray if it is larger.  or alum foil.

For example plant in this cute little wagon you can get from angelonthewind CLICK HERE to View this Item

It can be very shallow and your soil or growing medium only 1 - 2 inches deep. If your container is too deep, fill it with rocks, styrofoam bits. If there are no drain holes a bit of those rock or styrofoam will do. Never allow water to stand. Use a mister daily to dampen the seed or more often if needed. The rye grass pops in just 3-4 days and grows rapidly,

My kitties love grass so I trim it and give them a treat. They really like wheat grass.
Sprinkle the seed, mist it and that's it. Here's a couple of other planting items at OLA.

I like this..perennial rye.  Keep it trimmed and it will keep growing as long as you keep misting the soil.

This is a broader leaf grass and has a different look.  I don't remember the name.  Sorry

To gift...start with a very small pot...like the very small clay pots with the little tray and a small plastic bag of seed and a  small bag of planting medium. Type or write the instructions. Put it all in a brown lunch bag and staple a raffia bow with some small shiny balls. Very cute and fun to receive. Just another inexpensive idea. It's the thought that counts.....Have fun!!
