Snow!

Hi there Folks,
We have had a few days of freezing cold temperatures here in Historic Richmond, VA, and there's snow all around, so I thought I would search OLA for all things SNOW...Here are a few things I came up with on my OLA winter weather search.  I hope you will find them interesting:

From my shop, I have a few Little Golden Books for sale with a winter--snow theme.  First up, is a 1977 version of Frosty the Snow Man for $1.49;

Here is something interesting from Marebob 1:  A lot of matchbook covers, including one for Jordan's SNOWBALL King!  The lot has an opening bid of $3.

Here's something sweet that came up in my search for snow-related items for sale on OLA:  A pendant necklace made from a Scrabble letter tile featuring a Sheepdog in the SNOW.  So cute and different from FleaPirates.  It can be yours for only $5.25.

Do you ski?  A fine winter sport!  Here is a ski suit offered by a new OLA seller, mylovelydolls.  At $19.99, this is a steal!

From JRFLEAMARKET, at $1.50, sheet music for Let it Snow!  If it looks like this out your window, perhaps you may want to stay in and play music.

Don't forget BARBIE.  Here is a real collectible offered by MajikMerlin.  This Snow Sensation Barbie is in her original box, and it can be yours for $50.

Another Cool Collectible found on OLA is this Canadian $5 bill that features a fun SNOW scene.  Offered by mrfindit, the opening bid for this bill is $9.99.

From raevenhow, here is what looks to me like an antique mustache cup with a SNOW scene.  The scene is titled Winter in the Country, and the price of $4.01 is totally RIGHT!

Here is a neat SNOWFLAKE Wrist Watch offered by seller 4llls, for $10.99.

This is a Mystery Auction to raise funds for our very own DraggonTagger. As a third time cancer survivor, long-time OnlineAuction.com Member Jennie has had a very long fight. She has beat the big C once again, but has a very long road back and lots of big bad bills that need to be paid.

Recently, a Mystery Auction was run and a wonderful amount raised to help pay some of Jennie's bills. The thing is, not everyone could afford to bid after the bidding started climbing. Lots of members would like to help and we've found a way to run a Mystery Auction that everyone has a chance to win.

Members have been sending YogiBear66 all kinds of goodies to put into a Mystery Auction and we've decided to do it in a raffle type format. Everyone will have the opportunity to buy "drawing tickets". All the purchased tickets will go into a drum and a winner drawn on December 15. For every 10 tickets sold, we will give hints as to what is in the mystery box. Could be collectibles... could be health and beauty... could be pet accessories... could be household... could be clothing... could be food/candy... could be decorations... could be gift cards... hell, it could be cash!!! It could be ANYTHING. OLA Members are donating left and right, so the box will have lots of different goodies in it!!! In the immortal words of Forrest Gump (with a little liberty taken to make it fit): A Mystery Box is like a Box of Chocolates... you never know what you're gonna get.

Here is how the tickets break down:

Buy One $5 Ticket = One ticket into the drum

Buy Two $5 Tickets = 3 tickets into the drum (1 free ticket bonus)

Buy Five $5 Tickets = 10 tickets into the drum (5 free ticket bonus)

To get the multiple ticket bonus, you must buy the multiple tickets on the same day. You can buy one ticket, you can buy 100 tickets. You can buy a ticket a day or buy everything all at once and get bonus tickets! This way, everyone has a shot at winning the Mystery Auction!

This auction will start off with 5 Vintage Brooches. The minimum value of these brooches is $15. When 10 tickets have been sold, we will give another hint of what is in the box. For every 10 tickets sold, we will disclose something else AND we will add something else to the box!

All payments will be made to YogiBear66. Yogi takes Google Checkout, personal checks, US Postal Money Orders, Serve.com, WePay.com, and all major credit cards. If you need to make payment through PayPal, payments will be made to American-Hippie. No tickets will be placed into the barrel until payment has cleared.

The winner of the box will need to pay for the shipping. Shipping will be EXACT postage cost. No handling fees or packing fees or anything more than exact postage. We will ship it via USPS Flat Rate or USPS Ground, whichever you prefer, but there won't be an extra dime tacked on to the exact postage. You have our word.

Great Things Happen When A Community Comes Together

You won't find any links in my post today.
Nor will you find any advertisements, useful tips or an amusing story.
Today, I am going to ask for your time.

Great things happen when a community comes together.

One of the finest aspects of being a member at OnlineAuction.com is the sense of "family" that you receive once you join. It sounds corny, doesn't it? But member after member continues to feel it and comment upon it. We all have our own comfort level of sharing... some prefer to keep it strictly business, while others share monumental life moments, and others just share tidbits of their personal life.  Everyone receives the same respect, concern and genuine friendship. It an amazing thing to be able to see this interaction on a daily basis, between folks so many physical miles apart and yet so close as peers.

At 8:00 am this morning, one of our own will be undergoing major surgery.

For those of you who do not know, her name is Jen. You'll find her under the username DraggonTagger. Her doctors will be removing an aggressive cancer from her body today... this is her 3rd battle with this horrible disease. She needs us today.

Those of you who do know Jen, can easily bring to mind her strength of character, her unlimited kindess towards others, her joy for life, and her determination to heal, among other things. She's a member who is much beloved, with good reason.

So without bringing religion into this, all I am asking our community to do today is take a moment to think of Jen. Do whatever strikes your fancy... say a prayer, spend a minute of silence, light a candle, sing a song, recite a poem, or just visualize sending some good ju-ju.

She will feel it.

Ceramic Frog Planter in Iridescent Turquoise

It's time to get back to work! I took an extended holiday... been lazing about since Thanksgiving! But I'm back and reducing prices, re-listing treasures, revamping the store, and researching new product.

The first to be featured is this lovely Ceramic Frog Planter in Iridescent Turquoise. I acquired it from a vintage collectibles dealer at a flea market in Iowa, with my good friend and fellow OLA seller, DraggonTagger. I don't have much history on it, but as you can see, it is just the cutest little planter ever. It's got the most striking colors! (Almost like a piece of Carnival Glass.)
