Well as everyone knows this has been a crazy weather season. People used to snow not getting much, some getting too much and the same with rain. Some with freezing weather and some with not enough of that either.
We did not get more than two inches of snow. We really need some rain and will hopefully get some. Was supposed to rain yesterday and did not. We have well water and if we when it gets low we start getting some grit in our taps. Need to change filter outside more often when that happens. So far we are good with that.
Our regular season for our plants that come up every year is usually late April. Well, my hosta's are full, our dogwoods are in bloom with the wild ones down the mountian also popping out. If we get a freeze the hosta's are done for however the dog woods will survive.
The radishes I planted two weeks ago are coming up already. The scallions are showing no sign of growth. I start these from seeds. My hubby's potato plants he put in are not doing anything but it takes them a while anyway, although we have volunteers coming from last years plantings. He is waiting to put in cherry tomato, regular tomato, squash and green bell peppers. I want to try some silver queen corn this year also.
With the weather being near 80 for over a week it can be scary as the last time this happened we had a hard freeze in late April. That hard freeze took out a lot of plants and I am not looking forward to replacing 73 hosta plants should they get hit. Even my angel trumpet plant is ready to pop. It can be moved inside if that happens.
If you know what Kudzu is there are people here who are now using it for feed for their animals. Some even cook it and eat it themselves. I am not interested, thank you. There are also wild ramps that grow here and from what I have been told about them I am not interested in them either.
This has been the strangest year and it will be interesting to see what survives. If you plant a food garden I hope you fair well. For those of you who do not plant some of your own veggies, you are missing all the great benefits of planting it, nurturing it, watching it thrive and finally picking it and having the best you can get and the pride of doing it yourself.
So for me I will continue to pray for no hard freeze. Too much to lose but then some would love to see colder weather for a while longer. It is beautiful here today and hoping it stays that way.
After you are done with your ourtside work I hope you take some time and visit my store at http://ola.com/store/chateycathey as I now have it in order, some new items listed and all pictures are where they are supposed.
Please comment as all are appreciated.

Yet More Changes
After reading the post by Korn I just had to share this also. It is an email I got and was saving it for the right time and now seems like it.
How Old is grandma?
Stay with this -- the answer is at the end. It will blow you away.
Stay with this -- the answer is at the end. It will blow you away.
One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events.
The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general..
The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general..
The Grandmother replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before:
' television
' penicillin
' polio shots
' frozen foods
' Xerox
' contact lenses
' Frisbees and
' the pill
There were no:
' credit cards
' laser beams or
' ball-point pens
Man had not invented:
' pantyhose
' air conditioners
' dishwashers
' clothes dryers
' polio shots
' frozen foods
' Xerox
' contact lenses
' Frisbees and
' the pill
There were no:
' credit cards
' laser beams or
' ball-point pens
Man had not invented:
' pantyhose
' air conditioners
' dishwashers
' clothes dryers
' and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
' man hadn't yet walked on the moon
Your Grandfather and I got married first, .. .... ... And then lived together..
Every family had a father and a mother.
Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, "Sir".
And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir."
We were before gay-rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.
Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.
We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.
Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege...
We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent.
Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.
Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.
Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.
We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CD's, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.
We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President's speeches on our radios.
And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.
If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk.
The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam....
Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.
We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.
Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.
And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.
You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, .... But who could afford one?
Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.
In my day:
' "grass" was mowed,
' "coke" was a cold drink,
' "pot" was something your mother cooked in and
' "rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby.
' "Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office,
' "chip" meant a piece of wood,
' "hardware" was found in a hardware store and
"software" wasn't even a word.
And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.
How old do you think I am?
I bet you have this old lady in mind....you are in for a shock!
Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.
Are you ready ?????

A KICK IN THE PANTS
Well when I got on the internet today and logged onto OLA.COM I went to the chats and I got a wake up call.
Kornkountrytreasures , who blogs every day and who I issued challenge to in December of 2011 when the "blog a day" for the month of November was over. I challenged her to a blog a day anyway after the November challenge. She took me up on it and has been doing her part, I however let her down.
I did good during December but it seemed that 2012 brought issues which I used to not blog. I did not mean to not blog I just had hard times finding things to blog about and also finding time while I was listing and listing every day getting ready for my sale.
I got all wrapped up in m life and did not forget the blog but did not do it every day. Well today I could not think of anything to blog about right off my head but I can think of a lot of things I need to get done and items ready to get mailed out today. No excuses any more.
So I said I will blog about what a great person Amy is. She has a busy life also BUT she blogs every day, she goes to the chats and looks for people to help with whatever problem they may be having and she does help. People like Amy amaze me. They seem to be so organized and things seem to come easy to them and then I wonder if they ever have a problem and need help themselves. I saw in a chat that Amy could not get her computer to do something with a photo that others had no problem with. I am sure she will figure it out.
Amy pointed out that there are a number of people who are signed up for the ola team blog and if we all did one a week it would help. As I said before I plan on trying my best to blog each day or at least every other day. Amy you are so right. I saw what it did for our ratings in November 2011 with Fleapirates blog a day challenge. I think so many of us forgot what that month did for our ratings. We went from the bottom to the top because so many helped and blogged about so many different subjects.
Krautrock is a newer member but he is doing his part and it makes me feel like I am letting more down than just Amy. Dirk, thank you for blogging and letting us know about your home country. It is beautiful as are your listings you offer for sale. I fee like I am letting down OLA also and my fellow members.
So I got my kick in the pants this morning and my wake up call that OLA.COM will only grow and move on up as far as it's members want it to. I want it to grow and move up and am making another commitment to help that happen and asking all who are members of the team blog to please try to find time to help get us back where we were in November.
Thank you all so much for reading my blog, thanks Amy for kick in the pants, thanks Dirk for blogging and also thanks to Curiocache and Supergranny for your blogs and comments. I think it helps a lot for bloggers to see the comments that are left also as it means their blog was not done only for them but others like their blogs and shared them and +1 googled them.
You will see me here again tomorrow and each day to follow as best I can, even if I have to share a clever email or copy and paste an interesting article.
Please leave a comment as they count to me. Be safe, be healthy and be happy

What is Swarovski Crystal Jewelry
Each woman is unique. In her style. In her attitude. In her moods. For her, personal style is more important than what the trends make-believe. Her clothes, her accessories, her fragrance - all bring out her individuality. Swarovski crystals have ornamental value that is unique, just like the woman who adorns it. Oozing class and sophistication, Swarovski brings out the best within one and all.
So what exactly is Swarovski, you might ask. Swarovski is a brand of typically cut crystals and related products of luxury and class. Swarovski crystals were first developed by Daniel Swarovski in 1892 in Austria. Daniel Swarovski developed and patented an electronic glass cutting machine to produce glass crystals. The crystals thus produced were unique in the fact that they allowed light to refract in a color spectrum, giving an amazing splendor and look to the crystal. To make the Swarovski crystals even better, they are coated with special metallic coatings. This gives a rainbow effect to the crystals, making them an object of beauty and admiration.
.
Swarovski crystals are adapted in several different ornamental settings – jewelry, leathers bags, eye glasses, etc. For a woman who has the class and the charisma of a Swarovski, each of these ornamental pieces are an artistic treat. Swarovski jewelry has been a pride of many women’s wardrobe for a long time now. Unlike other pieces of jewelry, a Swarovski has its own place in the hearts of women, untouched and unrivalled by any other!
So when can you go about flaunting your designer Swarovski jewelry. The truth of the matter is that once a woman wears a Swarovski, she really wants no other. She wants to wear it everywhere, all the time. Her love for special, exquisite jewelry becomes even more pronounced and it becomes difficult to please her with anything else!
If you too want to add your special grace to the sparkling evening party, or to a gathering of friends meeting after long, you know what you are going to wear. Just put on an amazing piece of Swarovski necklace and you are sure to turn heads all night. If you are a person to make a not-so-bold statement, Swarovski studs or elegant Swarovski danglers are the perfect thing to accentuate your attire and adorn the evening. And warn your partner to be prepared for stares right through the evening!
Now that you can see what makes Swarovski Crystal jewelry and crystal item so special please check out all the sellers who sell these items on OLA.COM as there are way too many to feature in one blog. And when you are done with that please stop by my store as I have several of these beauties listed at chateycathey and would love to see you there.

I-40 TRAFFIC UPDATE
The rock slide on I-40 in western NC has been partially cleared. On the local news last night it was reported that the east bound traffic can now get through. The westbound lanes have been cleared so that one lane is open and they are warning truckers that traffic is slow. It took only a week to get one lane open.
That being said, they then went on to announce that the westbound traffic would have one lane traffic for miles as yesterday there was another rock slide on the Tenn. side of I-40. This one will take from 6 weeks to 2 months to get cleared completely, however one westbound lane can be used.
Unfortunately unlike the rock slide of 2009 there are no photo's posted for this one. In 2009 someone was actually on the road and saw some smaller rocks coming down so he got out of his car and had his camera ready and captured the whole thing on video. His vehicle was not far from where they came down at. He was lucky.
Anyone who has lived , driven through or vacationed in the mountains knows that a rock slide does not announce itself. If I saw smaller ones coming down I am not taking any pictures. I am moving out as fast as my van will take me as rock slides are so unpredictible. You never know where they will start or where they will end before they decise to calm down.
Maybe our local paper which only comes out twice a week will have some photo's I can use to let you know what we are talking about here. One boulder can be bigger than your car or truck. The only people who I know of who will still use this road even before it is completely safe are cross country truckers. I-40 is a major road for them and to take the detour adds about 2 hrs to their trips.
So now you have your update on 1-40 rockslides for this year so far. Both the one in NC and the one in Tenn are so close to the state line and they get a lot more rain there which is a major influence in the slides.
Thank you for reading my blog and stop by and see me at chateycathey before my 50% off sale ends on February the 8th, 2012.
Life is short.........Live it!

The Earth Box
I have noticed several people posting about gardens so I thought I would let you in on something I have been using since 1998 when I still lived in Florida. I lived in Bradenton and the person who invented it lived in the next town over which is Palmetto.
I am speaking of the earth box. Having a Garden is fine for most however it was just hubby and I so I did not want to dig up the yard for just the two of us. I went to Palmetto and spoke with the gentleman who invented the earth box.
Since there are so many critters there he told me I could grow all I wanted or needed in the screened room that was already up for the pool. I had a hard time with believing him. I wanted cukes, tomatos, scallions, radishes and more. When I told him how many I was growing for and what I wanted to grow he told me I only needed two boxes.
He showed me around at what he was growing and I was totally amazed. He had cabbage (2 to a box) and they were so hugh they actually hid the box they were grown in. He grew corn in them and he told me if it will grow in the earth box it will grow in his boxes. I was so impressed I got two of them. That year I had all the veggies we could eat and I use these same boxes still today.
I hope this link takes you to their site. If it does not just google earth box, Palmetto, FL
http://www.earthbox.com/
These boxes are amazing. When you purchase them you are given any extra's you may need. I never used the plastic covers but you get them, soil treatment products, instructions and all you need to get started. Here is how they work.
When you decide what you are going to grow you can actually start them earlier than usually inside and them move them to your porch or yard where they get sun. The concept is to water from the bottom and only mist from time to time on the leaves. there is a tube that goes down one side where you water it as the roots go after the water and it is always there if you check the box daily. When you put the hose in the tube to fill the bottom with water, you cannot over water as there is a whole in it that lets you know you have enough water in it. I had the best crop of all my years living in FL and it is amazing that I am still using them here in NC with the same results.
Last year was not a good year for veggie gardens here and mine was not the greatest as it has been at other times but it was better than hubbies who insist in tilling, working the soil and all that comes with that. I do let him eat some of mine LOL.
Now I am going to attermp to put a couple of pictures off the net to show you what I mean and if that does not work you will see them when you check out that site.

Awesome Tomatos
One head of cabbage grown in an earth box
You can actually see where this young man is putting the water.
The object is to water from the bottom at the root system and you cannot over water them. There is a platform that goes in before you put the soil and seeds in and that allows for the roots to be free to go for the water. I firmly believe in them and when I went back to FL for a visit I bought 2 more. Which now have been leant to friends and they swear by them. They do not want to give them back but I give them the phone number and they will ship them right to your house no matter where you live. We surrprised hubbies dad one year with having 2 shipped to him. The older he got the harder it was for him to garden so we set these up on cinder blocks for him and he was so proud he was still growing things.
Garlic was his love and he has been deceased since 2009 and we still have fresh garlic he made and bottled himself. He also loved putting fresh cut tomatos he grew on the table when we visited.
Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you got something from it. Comments are appreciated. And when you are done here why not come on over to my favorite selling place at OLA.COM and look me up at chateycathey to see what I have now and listings I am still putting up for my 50% off sale ending February 8th at midnight, just in time to get it to you before Valentines day.
Be safe, be healthy and be happy

Travel Alert
We have another rock slide in North Carolina right at the Tennessee border that has traffic routed on another road.
In 2009 we had a rock slide that wiped out both east bound and west bound traffic on I-40 for months and months. It came down on the westbound side at mile marker 3 and went across all four lanes of traffinc so east bound traffic also had to be sent around it. The current rock slide is in the same area but not exactly at the same mile marker.
If you are driving a semi it is best for you to not try to go the detour at mile marker 20 as it is a very narrow and windy 2 lane road. The state of NC is asking you to get off at Asheville and take I-26 to I-81 then you can pick up I-40 at that point. For people heading east bound on I-40 you will just reverse the above directions.
They have not given a date for having it fixed but they did say it was because of the rain we have been getting and the fact that some of the big boulders shift on their own and then when it rains it starts a slide. This section had been inspected while they were fixing the 2009 slide and it was reported on the news last night that this one had been spiked and netted to avoid this. This one is totally unexpected as they checked miles of the mountain in 2009 both east bound and west bound and the netted most of it.
At the same time of the 2009 I-40 rock slide there was also one on highway 64 which was just a 2 lane windy road going through the gorge toward Tenn also. So if you were in Tenn and wanted to go east you would add 2 hours to your trip time. If you were in NC and wanted to go to Chattanooga, TN you were in for a shock as this one was not advertized as much as the other one was. We got caught in that one as sometimes we would take the gorge road just because it is such a beautiful drive.
We usually go to Knoxville and pick up I-75 going north. So we could not get there either way and being adventureous we got used to taking some backroads which was kind of nice as we saw things we would have never seen at all if there was no slide. What truly amazed me is that one time we went up and over the Smokey Mountain Parkway and came out at Pigion Forge. Now the parkway is also a 2 lane highway and it is well traveled with many turnouts you can use if you get tired of the traffic pushing you around some of the curves.
We had just pulled out onto the road again when we had to stop the motor home (pulling a car) as all traffic was stopped in both directions. My first thought was a wreck, howeven when we got out to see what the hold up was we were told someone saw a bear and wanted to get a picture of it. Now I am thinking to myself here is this guy running up the mountain trying to catch a bear for a picture and the guy has no idea that bear will kill you and eat you for lunch. There was about an hour wait as monkey see monkey do......and there were lots and lots of people going up to help this guy get his picture. Is it really worth your life or the life of those trying to help you just to get a picture of a bear? At the visitors center you can buy them and it is not like this bear is gonna say "come here little buddy and I'll hug you while your friends get a picture". That was our last trip taking the motor home over that mountain.
To wind up this story that started out to be a warning about the road closures turned into a lesson on bears. Here they are black bears and usually hungry. The main thing I want you to be aware of is if you are taking I-40 east or west you should check it out first. The length of the closure is unknown.
Thank you my friends for reading this blog and I hope it helps some of you. And if you cannot get where you want to go well just stay on your computer and on OLA and visit my store at http://ola.com/store/chateycathey and get in on some great deals as I am having a 50% off sale until February 8th at midnight EST

Facebook Shopping
Facebook users have integrated their pages with third party apps to show what they read, listen to , where they go, what they sell and what they are doing.
That was the beginning of an article I started to read in a business magazine today. The next question was: could what they buy be next?
The entire idea of buying things on Facebook has been gaining traction with more people out there. Doron Simovitch, CEO of Sortprice was quoted in "Digital Trends" as saying "I think that as users witness more and more of their friends buying things they see advertised, you will see more of them following suit. That could very well lead to buying gifts via applications becoming the next big thing on Facebook."
While the full integrations of our shopping habits has yet to reach Facebook, it seems like it is only a matter of time before a majority of us seek to share best deals and perfect gifts through the social media.
After reading this I had to re-read it to understand what he was getting at. The way I understand it is that those annoying apps you see when you get on face book are only going to get worse. It also made me want to check into how it works and what it cost per add, how long it runs, who sees it. As I see it when we facebook our items and share them to our page all who are friends with us see it and we have friends who share it for us to their friends. Then we tweet it and our friends who follow us sometimes retweet it. We +1 Google items and we do all we can to have our site and our stores out there and high in the search engines. Do we really need apps?
When I list an auction on my site at OLA.COM, I do all the above. Can I say they have helped me? Yes I can. I had a customer tell me she saw something I had for sale and that is how she came to buy from me. She lived in South Florida. New customer and hopefully a repeat customer. Now that makes it worth it and it helped me make up my mind that I do not need to be an annoying app on Facebook"s right side of the page.
Thank you for reading this and if you got anything out of it that is good. I like reading articles like that and trying to see how they affect my business. Maybe one day we will have to conform to this way of thinking but I hope it is not soon and if you want to see what got me the sale just go to chateycathey and view my items for sale.
Life is short, live it to the fullest and have fun at it.

OLA Team Blog
What a pleasant surprise to get on line each day and check out the OLA team blog. Ola.com has picked up new members over the holidays and to see them joining right in with the blogs is a very good thing.
It is very nice to see this happen and also get to know some of our new members and find out a little about their likes and dislikes, as we all have some of each. I would like to do this blog about a couple who I've seen jump right and are trying to help OLA.COM grow even though they have not been here long.
Latherupsoap can be reached at the following link http://www.onlineauction.com/store/latherupsoap
Awesome home made soaps to choose from
Krautrock can be found at the following link
http://ola.com/store/krautrock
With some very interesting art work amoung other items
This is just two of the new members wanting to be a part of our family and who understand what it takes to help us grow. Thank you so much for the support on behalf of all if us here at OLA.COM. If you have a chance please stop by their stores and see just how nice they are set up and the wonderful items they have to offer as well as a lot of our existing members.
Hope everyone has a great 2012. Together we can help all of us at OLA.COM do just that. And when you are done with that stop by my store at chateycathey as I have been listing new items daily.

I Don't Work??
Went to get comission check today from gal who has some of my items for sale for me. After we visited with her in her brick and motar store we decided to stop and eat out. Nothing new as we do this a lot when we go to GA to either take her some more items or go get my monthly check. Kinda of a nice day especially getting a good size check.
So, we went to our favorite restaurant close by there and while waiting for our food we were drinking coffee and discussing business and sales. I guess the people sitting right behind us heard our conversation as I heard her ask our waitress where I work. The answer she gave her set me back. Her reply was "Oh, she doesn't work she sells on line" This got to me more than just a litttle bit.
Selling on line is my job. I work at so many aspects of making that work for me. Taking pictures, editing pictures, getting items listed, promoting my store and my items, promoting other members stores and items, updating my listings, blogging on OLA TEAM BLOG, having specials, participating in special events, checking in each day and if items sell then sending out invoices, getting packages ready to go, waiting for payments, going to the PO and shipping each item including delivery confirmation, keeping records of who bought what, how they paid, if they paid within a reasonable amount of time. I could go on and on as it is MY JOB and I work at it.
There are some days I just tell my hubby I am taking the day off to do what I want to do today, which for me is just relaxing and crocheting some items I am behind on. It does not always work as I plan because before I can take that day off I need to go to my store and see what is going on, checking omail, answering omail, checking the chats to see what is posted and replying, making sure I am doing my part to be a part of the family which is exactly what my selling site has. One big family with each of us helping the other. At OLA.COM there is a We attitude and to be part of we there are somethings to do. One is participating and interacting with others.
I did not say anything to the waitress but I left my OLA card on the table with the tip. I also saw the people behind us and offered her one of my cards too. She took it and said thank you.
For anyone selling at OLA.COM I think you will know exactly how I feel when someone says "she don't work, she sells on line". There are a lot who have a job outside of the home and still have a store here on OLA.COM and run it very well. I can only imagine how much rest they DO NOT get. I respect them for working two jobs. I am fortunate enough to be able to stay home and there are some days I spend as much as 11 to 12 or 14 hours a day on my computer.
When I sold at the other spot I did not spend as much time on line as it was just listing and sitting back and praying for sales. There was no WE. There was no help from other members to get us started in the right direction in getting our stores noticed and out items shown. I knew very little about networking when I came here and I now am able to give a tip here and there to others to help them.
OLA.COM is the best place to sell on line and also to work with.
Yes I have a job and yes I work. My job is my store at chateycathey at OLA.COM and you can clikc here chateycathey and see only part of what makes it work. So when you hear someone say you don't work you know better. No ones stores work if the owner of that store does not work at it.
Well thanks for letting me write off some steam. Doing it this was is better than offending a nice waitress at one of our favorite restaurants. Until and unless she has an online business she will never understand the work that goes making it work.
Be safe, be healthy and be happy.

American Made Challenge
If you are anything like me you probably try to buy american made items. This is not the first time I have blogged about this subject but it means a lot to me.
I will not be showing sellers on OLA.COM that have items made in America as I have done that one already. I will be comparing what can be found by just looking on the same shelf or maybe in another store in the same town.
Walmart had a waste basket made in China for $6.99. I ask the clerk if they had any made in America and she took me to them. I got one for $2.50 with Made in USA on the bottom. Why it was in a different part of the store is unknown by the clerk.
I do not buy Hallmark cards anymore as they are made in China and are very expensive. I buy cards from the Dollar Store for $.50 cents each and they are made in USA
I was at Lowes in town and happened to remember I need a new hose attachment. They were all made in China so the next day I went to Ace Hardware in our town and there they were , cheaper and made in the USA
At the grocery store I also found bounce frabic softener sheets were made in China while the store brand was 1/2 the price, made in USA and worked just as well.
With the economy being what it is everything we buy or do affects someone else, maybe even someone's job.
So forget what is being said like "You just can't find anything made in America anymore". That isn't true as I have found a lot of items I us made in USA. You just have to look.
My challenge to you is to look at labels and see what you can find made in America. The more we buy from USA companies the more jobs we will be helping to save.
Please either come here and blog and brag about your finds. If you do not want to do that you can go to my ola store and tell me, http://ola.com/store/chateycathey or you can omail me at chateycathey@aol.com and I will keep track and report here in the future.
Thanks for reading my blog and I will be watching my email or this blog for responces. If sending an email please put American made challenge in the subject line.

Postal Rates Going Up
When I went to the post office today to mail out some packages I ask when the rates are going up. I was told the new rates start on January 22, 2012. I ask for a chart of new rates and was told they do not have one yet but that he would make me a copy of his which he did and I thanked him.
I was looking at it and I had to get back in line as I had questions. When I need to mail something that will fit in a small flat rate box that says if it fits it ships. I save postage for my customers using that as some items fit in it but are heavy so it is a good thing. Well that rate is not on what he gave me, and he did not know what it will be when rates go up. My husband is trying to send a post card to a friend and he does not know what that postage is. I do not know and it is not on the chart either.
Tried to look it up on the internet. One site said 42 cents and another site said 31 cents. USPS did not even have it listed. Guessing games at this point. Don't know what to do now but take it to PO and let them tell us. Now I had another question for him. How do we find out what a stamp is worth?
I am speaking about stamps without an amount on them and the ones I have go way back to like the 40"s and 50"s. I inherited then and never thought about it until a woman was in the PO putting those kind of stamps on letters. Now a 1 cent stamp has 1 cent on it but I have a bunch I have no idea of value. I am not a collector so I need to do research and when I find out what they are worth I will start using them. I imagine I will have to use different denominations on one letter to make the postage right.
Just thought I would let this be known as there are probably others with stamps that have no value printed on them. Interesting for sure. I have seen some stamps for sale on OLA.COM and wonder how they find out the value of them. Maybe someone will comment on this blog and send me in the right direction to do my research.
Thank you for reading my blog and comments are appreciated. If you can help me with my search please comment here and I will check back.

The Marine’s Father
Warning: you will probably need a kleenex or two.
Here’s an inspirational story about love and a random act of kindness that will bring tears to your eyes.
A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.
“Your son is here,” she said to the old man. She had to repeat the words several times before the patient’s eyes opened.
Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man’s limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.
The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed. All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man’s hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.
He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital – the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.
Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.
Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.
Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.
“Who was that man?” he asked.
The nurse was startled, “He was your father,” she answered.
“No, he wasn’t,” the Marine replied. “I never saw him before in my life.”
“Then why didn’t you say something when I took you to him?”
“I knew right away there had been a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. When I realized that he was too sick to tell whether or not I was his son, knowing how much he needed me, I stayed.”
Be safe, be healthy, be happy and most of all be careful on this night of celebration.
Happy New Year to all

ANOTHER NEW MEMBER AT OLA.COM
I noticed in the chats that we have a new member. The user ID is HappyFrog. This new seller told of being treated badly at other places as a new member. It was sad but this newbie here sounds so up beat and positive and not afraid to ask for help in the chats.
I could not help HappyFrog figure out how to move 500 photo's fast so I decided to help this way. I am going to post some of their items and then I am going to face book and tweet them and share this blog. Closing Stores
I heard on the news today that Sears is closing 150 of its Kmart stores. What a shame this is for the people who will loose jobs and also for America in general. They gave the reason as disappointing sales during the hoilday sales season.
With so many stores closing and so many companies moving to other countries it will soon be very hard to find Made in America items. I always try to find Made in America when I am shopping but it is becoming very difficult.
Many people who are out of jobs or their hours have been cut have gone back to making things at home, like clothes and gifts. Add to these out of work people the fact that so many who serve in our armed forces are coming home now and with no job waiting for them, It is a sad situation.
I have no solution for it except to say if you can find American made please buy it. It may not be the exact one you wanted but if it is close please consider it. I went looking for a new pair of boots for myself and found 4 pair. All were made in another country so I wound up buying myself some socks to wear with shoes during the cold weather instead of buying the shoes. I do not like socks but I love America.
I also got myself a back pack made in America from callmemomo and it is beautiful and very well made. I feel good about that. At ola.com you can find many people who make items that are home made and very useful. Another seller who has home made items is KornKountryTreasures with items for babies and children plus books on how to make items. I am just amazed how DraggonTagger takes plastic bags and makes plarn purses. By buying from people who make their own items you are also getting one of a kind items.
I also have Made in America items in my store at chateycathey if you would like to check them out.
Thank you for reading my blog and comments are appreciated.

Year End Inventory Sale
I will be offering the following year end inventory sale prices, 50% off all items from 6 PM EST December 26th, 2011 to 6 PM EST January 2nd, 2012. Single items and lots. I will close all auctions at midnight the day it was bid on. If multiple bidders then the winning bidder will get auction for 1/2 the price it is when I end it that night. I will send out invoices on the night the auction ends. I expect to hear from winner within 3 days and payment due within 10 days or I will assume they do not want it and re-list it." If you have any questions I will be available and will answer your Omails as soon as possible.
If you sell at fairs and craft shows or even on line this is your chance to get very nice items for less than wholesale with huge profits to be made. When possible I ship all items with the price tags on them that I was selling them in my jewelry store for. And they sold at those prices. Other items besides jewelry are also on sale. If you see it in my store between the dates mentioned above, it is included in the year end sale. Everything must go.

TRUE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
December 22, 2011 was "Shop With A Cop" day in our town. It was posted on face book by our sheriff and there were 212 photos. Seems it was a very positive and happy day for all involved.
The 168 children who shopped with a cop went home with things they would have not gotten if not for this program. There were photos of children with bikes, computers, clothes and toys of all kinds and the children were of all ages. Hard for me to believe that there are that many families in need at this time of year in our little town.
Times are rough all over our country. Some will not even have a meal if they do not go to the shelters on Christmas day. Our community Center is opening up with volunteers to cook and serve those who would not have a Christmas dinner.
It breaks my heart when I see kids and families doing without any time of the year. We do not have people living under bridges here but we do have one man who sleeps on benches because he wants to. His name is Rockie and he has been offered help and all he wants is give him money, no clothes or food and no paying for him to stay in a motel for a week. He only wants money and when he gets it he gets drunk and does something that gets him a week or two at the local jail.
It is mostly the kids that get to me and what a joy it was to see the photo's of all these kids and cops at our local walmart at one time shopping for special gifts and thanking the cops who they shopped with.
Also, Wendy's, Burger King, Pizza Factory and McDonalds had open house for the cops and kids. Free meals for all who participated. This included the parents of the children also.
It was reported that this is the 14th annual shop with a cop here and it was by far the best. The money comes from contributors who give what they can and also some businesses give a large donation to this even though their business is not part of the store that gets shopped in. They just want to help those in need.
I just wanted to share what a joy it is to live in a community like this. I think shop with a cop is in a lot of other states too. The cops do not get paid that day to wear their uniforms and drive these kids to walmart in a police car which is a thrill for a lot of them. They spend the whole day doing this. A 20 hour shift as with that many kids they do not all go at one time.
I hope you and your family are fortunate enough to not need these services and have a wonderful and very Merry Christmas. So when you say grace on Christmas day before you have a beautiful and delicious meal please pray for those in need, be it health, food, shelter or just a toy for a child.
From me and mine Merry Christmas to you and yours. Remember the reason for the season.
Just a note that I will be having an after Christmas blow out sale at http://ola.com/store/chateycathey so stop by to see what I am losing money on just to be able to clear out a room.
