2013 - The Year of the Snake!

2013 is the Year of the Snake per the Chinese Zodiac.  I found a few interesting little blurbs about Snakes...enjoy!

2013 is the year of the black Snake begins on February 10th shortly after the New moon in Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac. This 2013 year of Snake is meant for steady progress and attention to detail. Focus and discipline will be necessary for you to achieve what you set out to create. The Snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese Zodiac, which consists of 12 Animal Signs. It is the enigmatic, intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of the Animals Signs. Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means that your family will not starve.

Positive: The Snake can be amiable, compromising, fun-loving, altruistic, honorable, sympathetic, philosophical, charitable, a paragon of fashion, intuitive, discreet, diplomatic, amusing and sexy.

Negative: The Snake can also be self-righteous, imperious, judgmental, conniving, mendacious, grabby, clinging, pessimistic, fickle, haughty, ostentatious and a very sore loser.

This is a year of  water Snake, and all things will be possible.  Saving money and being thrifty should be your top priorities.  Delusion and deception are common in the year of water Snake.  Stay alert!  To gain the greatest benefits from this year, you must control spending and use your talents wisely.  If you are planning to get married or to begin a business partnership, be sure to thoroughly investigate the other person's finances and background before you legalize the alliance.
Babies born in the year of the snake are said to be lucky and insightful. The Snake is also said to be the most intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of all the animal signs.

Lemons . . . . . .

My father-in-law shared this little tidbit with me via email. Now, I have absolutely no knowledge as to whether this is true or not . . . . but a lemon is just that . . . a lemon. What can it hurt? And I do know that lemon zest does make things tastier!! So, here goes!!

Amazing Frozen Lemons...the latest cure-all.

All it is.....is a frozen lemon.

Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using
or consuming the entire lemon and nothing is wasted.

How can you use the whole lemon without waste?

Simple.. place the washed lemon in the freezer section
of your refrigerator. Once the lemon is frozen, get your grater,
and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle
it on top of your foods.

Sprinkle it to your vegetable salad, ice cream, soup,
cereals, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi,
fish dishes, whisky.... the list is endless.

All of the foods will unexpectedly have a wonderful taste,
something that you may have never tasted before.
Most likely, you only think of lemon juice and vitamin C.
Not anymore.
Now that you've learned this *lemon secret *,
you can use lemon even in instant cup noodles.

What's the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing
waste and adding new taste to your dishes?

Well, you see lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10
times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself.

And yes, that's what you've been wasting.

But from now on, by following this simple procedure of freezing
the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes,
you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier.

It's also good that lemon peels are health rejuvenators
in eradicating toxic elements in the body.

So place your washed lemon in your freezer,
and then grate it on your meal every day.

It is a key to make your foods tastier
and you get to live healthier and longer!

That's the lemon secret!

Better late than never, right?

The surprising benefits of lemon!
Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells.
It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy.
Why do we not know about that?
Because there are laboratories interested in
making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits.
You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her
know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease.
Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the
horrific effects of chemotherapy.

How many people will die while this closely guarded
secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial
multimillionaires large corporations?

As you know, the lemon tree is known
for its varieties of lemons and limes.

You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp,
juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc..

It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting
is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors.
This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types.
Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer.

It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum
against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against
internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure
which is too high and an antidepressant, combats
stress and nervous disorders.

The source of this information is fascinating:
it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in
the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory
tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that It destroys
the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast,
prostate, lung and pancreas...

The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better
than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used
chemotherapeutic in the world,
slowing the growth of cancer cells.

And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy
with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer
cells and it does not affect healthy cells.

So, give those lemons a good wash,
freeze them and grate them.

Your whole body will love you for it!!!!!

I am certainly going to check this out!! At least make my food tastier!!

And speaking of lemons, check out what OLA.com has to offer in the "lemon" department!!

And last but not least . . . . .

Lemon Meringue 11oz Tumbler Scented Unboxed Container Candle from J7339 who has a bunch of lemony gift ideas!!

So, I hope that you can make use of the information and that you check out the sellers on OLA.com!! It's the best place to buy and sell and it's only going to get better in 2013!!!!

Thank you!!

A SPECIAL THANK U TO CHRIS-VAL-OLAERS & MANY MORE

OK folks listen up this is important...

As I did not have the time to do so on the show I wanted to say a public THANK YOU to EVERYONE who is here and to show just how truly GRATEFUL and AWESTRUCK.....SUPPORTED and so many other words I can come up with
Here are some of my many quotes I have found along the way to express my DEEPEST APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

OLA has become my family over the years and many more to come.

“When we become more fully aware that our success is due in large measure to the loyalty, helpfulness, and encouragement we have received from others, our desire grows to pass on similar gifts. Gratitude spurs us on to prove ourselves worthy of what others have done for us. The spirit of gratitude is a powerful energizer.” — Wilferd A. Peterson

This I try to do everyday -

“Whatever our individual troubles and challenges may be, it’s important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have, on every level. We need to literally “count our blessings,” give thanks for them, allow ourselves to enjoy them, and relish the experience of prosperity we already have.” — Shakti Gawain

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” — William Arthur Ward

(and OLA is anything but an ordinary job it is a joy for many many of us and we all appreciate you Oregonites)

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” — Thornton Wilder

(and because of OLA--Chris and Val... I like others here have many treasures across the United States and they are each called FAMILY. )

Expand your mind by dreaming bigger.Don't settle for less.

In due time, you will regain your power and plow through your
obstacles.

Go for it!

That my dear friends is Chris and Val they dared to dream BIG and because of that we are here and ......

OLA WILL CONTINUE TO ROCK AND ROLL AND GROW!!!

Let's all help Chris's dream by dreaming bigger ourselves going into the New Year and beyond!!!!
Thank you for reading and listening and being there for each other.

Fire Cider fer what ails ya!

A friend sent me this blog with a really good recipe for "Fire Cider" that sounds like it'll really help boost your immune system - or at least taste yummy and perk you up!  I copied most of the blog, but there's more - and some good comments, so I encourage you to click the blog link.

Hot and sweet - a zesty, vinegary recipe!
Fire Cider is a traditional cold remedy with deep roots in folk medicine. The tasty combination of vinegar infused with powerful immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, decongestant, and spicy circulatory movers makes this recipe especially pleasant and easy to incorporate into your daily diet to help boost the immune system, stimulate digestion, and get you nice and warmed up on cold days.
Because this is a folk preparation, the ingredients can change from year to year depending on when you make it and what’s growing around you. The standard base ingredients are apple cider vinegar, garlic, onion, ginger, horseradish, and hot peppers, but there are plenty of other herbs that can be thrown in for added kick. This year I had lots of spicy jalapenos and vibrant rosemary in the garden, so I used those along with some organic turmeric powder in the cupboard and fresh lemon peel. Some people like to bury their fire cider jar in the ground for a month while it extracts and then dig it up during a great feast to celebrate the changing of the seasons.
Fire Cider can be taken straight by the spoonful, added to organic veggie juice (throw in some olives and pickles and think non-alcoholic, health boosting bloody mary!), splashed in fried rice, or drizzled on a salad with good olive oil. You can also save the strained pulp and mix it with shredded veggies like carrots, cabbage, broccoli, and fresh herbs to make delicious and aromatic stir-fries and spring rolls! I like to take 1 tbsp each morning to help warm me up and rev the immune system, or 3 tbsp at the first sign of a cold.
Time to make the Fire Cider!
Ingredients
1/2 cup fresh grated organic ginger root
1/2 cup fresh grated organic horseradish root
1 medium organic onion, chopped
10 cloves of organic garlic, crushed or chopped
2 organic jalapeno peppers, chopped
Zest and juice from 1 organic lemon
Several sprigs of fresh organic rosemary or 2 tbsp of dried rosemary leaves
organic apple cider vinegar
raw local honey to taste

Directions
Prepare all of your cold-fighting roots, fruits, and herbs and place them in a quart sized jar. If you’ve never grated fresh horseradish, be prepared for a powerful sinus opening experience! Use a piece of natural parchment paper or wax paper under the lid to keep the vinegar from touching the metal. Shake well! Store in a dark, cool place for one month and remember to shake daily.
After one month, use cheesecloth to strain out the pulp, pouring the vinegar into a clean jar. Be sure to squeeze as much of the liquid goodness as you can from the pulp while straining. Next, comes the honey! Add 1/4 cup of honey and stir until incorporated. Taste your cider and add another 1/4 cup until you reach the desired sweetness.

And if you need a cool jar to put your concoction in, you can find some really nice ones at onlineauction.com!
