Ladies Silver and Malachite Ring Size 6 1/2

This silver and malachite ring is signed KC.  I believe it to be sterling silver, but there is no silver mark, (not unusual). I found this beautiful ring at a local estate sale, where they were offering loads of vintage jewelry!

The ring is in excellent pre-owned condition, with no damage to the stone, the setting or the silver. The malachite cabuchon measures 1 inch from end to end.The rings is about a size 6.5.

This would make a lovely addition to your vintage jewelry collection!

Another Growing Old Post....OH NO!!

A good friend sent me this.  I don't know who the author is...but it mirrors my thoughts.  I thank Suz for sharing this with me...I hope you all enjoy it.  Remember it's not bemoaning the fact that we grow old, but rather the comfort and joy we should feel when we are comfortable in our sagging skin and enjoying life.  You may not be here yet, but rest assured, it will sneak up on you when you're not looking.    ENJOY!
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.  I very recently lost a very dear friend...his footprint is forever on my heart.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?   I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 40 & 50's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.  I am working on my memory.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

WHAT TO DO AND WHEN TO DO IT

I have been dealing with this question since November 22, 2011. You would think this would be a problem for someone younger but it is my problem and I have to solve it.

OLA.COM is doing a secret santa gift exchange and I signed up for it. That was easy. I got my omail from Secret Santa telling me who I was to be a secret santa for and that was easy as it had information very helpful to me.

The hard part came when I received my gift from my secret santa on the 22nd of Nov. and it is sitting here. I want to open it, but I also want to wait. I have always had this problem at Christmas and I usually wait BUT this one has me wondering.

The return address does not have a name on it and it does not have a city or state. Just the physical address with a zip code. Well  I looked up the zip code and it is from Ohio. This is my delima. I do not think I know anyone who signed up fot the secret santa exchange that is from Ohio.

Now I think if I knew who it was from I would not have a problem like this. My only problem then would be what is it. As it is now I have two issues...who is it from is the biggest and then what is it.

So I will be torn until I make a decission on what to do and when to do it. I want to wait but I also want to know who and what. I guess I could go through all the family I have at http://www.http//ola.com to see who is from Ohio but that is so time consuming.

I need time to list more items for the Cyber Monday sale which extends into the Terriffic Tuesday sale. WOW two full days of sales and extra special specials. On to my store to get some more done now. Watch me at http://ola.com/store/chateycathey to see what new items I have listed and what specials I am running.

Christmas Hint #26 -- Toys For Grownups

Toys aren’t just for the kids. Another of our family traditions is to give a round of toys to the whole family to play with after the rest of the gifts have been opened. These inexpensive items encourage friendly competition and make the festivities last longer. One year it was yo-yo’s, another time it was those little balsa wood airplanes. We had the little helicopters that launch spinning disks, bubble makers, and several Frisbee variations.

One year we had a series of “events” and called it the family Olympics. We all had to run from station to station, solving puzzles or mastering skills. We always do these activities after the presents and big meal, to get us up and moving.

It’s always a challenge to find something new and silly, but we’ve kept it up even after the kids and granddaughter were grown up. Our Christmases may not be traditional, but they’re never boring.

Some other ideas for after Christmas activities are board games, puzzles, and bringing out the home videos/movies.

Here are some toys and games from OLA.

Today is Small Business Saturday. Yesterday was Black Friday and everyone and their family trooped to the big malls and chain stores. Well, today, people are asked to support their local merchants, shops and stores. Each dollar you spend in your local shops are more likely to stay in the community!

Perhaps you are like me. I hate stores and crowded shopping! I have avoided Black Friday for years, to the extent that I would volunteer to work so that others could get up at some horrendous hour and join the hordes of people!!

So, I much prefer shopping online!! And guess what! OLA.com has LOTS of small businesses! They are located all over!! These small businesses would be honored to have you shop in their stores!! And here are just a few!!

Goldi has a LOT of fun things to browse through!! Love Your Pet is a great place to shop and help a pet sanctuary in the process!!

Dusty Corners and
Classic Chloe both have a variety of items from which to choose! Metzy Mom makes some wonderful soy tarts! Great stocking stuffers

Sunflower Antics, one of our newer members, has some fabulous cookbooks!!

There wasn't any way I could list all the stores on OLA.com! And besides stores, we also have fabulous month to month members that are selling!! So take a peek, check it out!! If you want a list of all the stores at OLA.com, just click on Santa! He'll direct you!!
