Let's Talk About Love

A Definition of Love:
  • (n) an intense emotion of affection, warmth, fondness, and regard towards a person or thing
Here we are marching into another Holiday season... a season of love. Goodwill is in the air! Do you feel it already? A season for giving. From charitable donations and activities, to exchanging gifts with family and friends, this time of year is a great time to honor Love.

As Celine said... Let's Talk About Love.

And now that I've got you all warm and fuzzy, let's head over to OLA and find some gifts for the folks that you love... your spouse, your kids, your BFF, your co-worker, and your crazy neighbor down the street, among others.

Show her you love her everyday. A flowing black porcelain sculpture illustrates the timeless beauty of the bond between mother and child. From GiftShopGifts!

The Miracle of Toilet Paper

THE MIRACLE OF TOILET PAPER

Fresh from my shower, I stand in front of the mirror
complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small.

Instead of characteristically telling me it's not
so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a
suggestion.

"If you want your breasts to grow, then every day
take a piece of toilet paper and rub
it between them for a few seconds"

Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece of toilet paper
and stand in front of the mirror, rubbing it
between my breasts. "How long will this
take?" I asked.

"They will grow larger over a
period of years," my husband replies.

I stopped.

"Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper
between my breasts every day will make my
breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat he says
"Worked for your butt, didn't it?"

He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he
may even walk again although he will probably
continue to take his meals through a straw.

Stupid, stupid man. Now on a more serious note.......

Used Toys and Clothing

In this time of tight purse strings, how many of you have looked at things around the house that are gently used but still have great life? Remember when Toys for Tots first started out? You could donate good, used toys to those less fortunate for the holidays. Well, no longer. And I can see why but I also know that with the amount of toys that children receive now days, there is a lot that goes by the wayside that someone would love to recycle.

This year, be thankful for what you have and start a new tradition with your children. Go through toys no longer played with. Have your children help decide what goes to the less fortunate. Then clean them up and join a Reusit site in your locale. Do the same with gently used coats, mittens, hats, and clothes. Be sure they are clean, join the sites and away you go! Someone out there can use these items!! Help someone bring joy into their childrens lives at Christmas by donating items you can no longer use and teach your children to share at the same time.

The Reusit site is FREE!! No exceptions. Here is the link for the main page: http://www.reuseitnetwork.org/us.htm

Be thankful this season by sharing! And if you are looking for great deals for the holiday season, be sure to stop by OLA.com!

A Thanksgiving Tradition

I know these things belong in the chats but I thought I would put it in a blog just to see how many people read it and comment on it.

At Thanksgiving it is a tradition with many to go around the table and have everyone say what they are thankful for. It has been a tradition of mine for many many years, so I will go first.

First and foremost for me:

I am thankful that God loves me and He loves me just the way I am.

I am thankful for my husband who lets me be me.

I am thankful for my family and I know all things happen for a reason. My little grand son is now 1 month and 7 days old and he has gained weight. Now 4 lbs 13 ozs and may be able to come home next week. It has been a long struggle for this little guy.

I am thankful that I found OLA as my new selling site and for the friends I have made   there and the family I have become a part of.

I am thankful for the mistakes God let me make in my life as I learned something from each one.

That is enough from me but I could go on and on as I have been so blessed.

Since I have become a member of OLA I have learned to appreciate all the extra's that come with my membership. The extra efforts made by the owners, staff and other members to help everyone expand their business and become a part of the big picture. No other site ever that I know of has a blog challenge, a Halloween contest, a Christmas contest and others as I am sure I missed some. Because of the OLA blog a lot of us are able to feature some of our items for free. We can also feature some of others items for them for free.

One thing I do not understand is why so many OLA members are not blogging. We have a huge community here and only a very few are doing the November challenge.

How do we reach them and get them involved? Not only in this challenge but just to blog on the OLA team blog at other times. I plan to continue blogging even after the challenge is over and I hope others will do this with me.

Thanks for taking time to read my blog and comment on it. Good or bad, they all count

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

Christmas Hint #15 -- Playing Detective

When the Christmas parties start, it’s a perfect opportunity to play detective. Pay attention to the details in the homes of friends and relatives. This will make things much easier when it’s time to buy gifts.

Keep a notebook with a section for each of those hard-to-buy-for people. Are their tastes modern, antique, eclectic, crafty? What colors do they like? Also, be sure to write down what you get for them this year, so you can keep track for next year. It’s really embarrassing to buy the same thing for someone 2 years in a row (been there, done that).

Here's a gift that would be fun to give or receive.

A little thanksgiving diversion

Just for fun, here's a cute game called Turkey Flibriks... it's supposed to be for kids... but I thought it got pretty tough as the levels go up... good luck!!
