SPRING Chronicled 2008!

The birds are arriving and my plum tree is in full bloom. With all of its problems, it didn’t die.

The Hibiscus plants that I keep indoors all winter will be much happier when I am able to move them outside again. I don’t put them out if the night time temps are below 50 degrees. They cannot take the cold.

Now, the most recent picture of the garden. Hubby got the tiller out and got the soil turned. Isn’t that the prettiest dark soil you ever did see? I’ll be taking the kolrabi out of the cold frame and transplanting them when they are just a little bigger.

Treasure Books Book The Magic Clown 1954 No. 876 Excellent Condition

Treasure Book titled, “THE MAGIC CLOWN”, number 876. The book has a copyright date of 1954, by Gold Metal Candy Corp. The book is 28 pages long. This book is in Excellent Condition with minor wear to the cover and corners. This book is exceptional in the fact that the name plate is unsigned. Overall this book was well taken care of. The colors are vibrant, and the pages are crisp with slight yellowing. There are no tears or scribbles and the binding is tight. Clear Pressed Glass Compote with Sawtooth Edge

Vintage pressed glass compote from unknown maker.

Good vintage condition, but does have one tiny chip. The chip is located at the top edge, along the inside. The chip is so small that I had to mark it with a small sticker, and place an arrow so that I could find it again!

Does not detract from the piece at all.

The compote is footed. Done in a 4-part mold, with visible mold lines.

Measures about 4 3/4" diameter at top & 3 1/2" height.
Weighs just over 1 pound.

Would be a beautiful candy or nut dish!

Shenango China USN US Navy Senior Naval Officer Dinner or Luncheon Plate

Offered for purchase on www.onlineauction.com is this wonderful and scarce Shenango China USN US Navy Senior Naval Officer Dinner or Luncheon Plate . This white plate features blue decoration, consisting of an eagle with shield in the center, with the letters U.S.N. underneath. Around the rim are 13 blue stars between a thinner and thicker blue line. This plate has a diameter of approx. 9-1/8"; may be considered a dinner plate or luncheon plate. This pattern was made for only a short time in the 1960s/Vietnam era and is very hard to find. It was made by Shenango China, Newcastle, PA, and is marked on the back.
