Vintage Scarves are Luxurious...

Vintage Scarves are Luxurious...

There are a couple of definitions for the word luxurious that really hit home when considering vintage scarves.  One definition is that the word means elegant, enjoyable, extremely comfortable, another definition is deluxe: rich and superior in quality, but the one from Merriam Webster online really seems to nail the meaning (at least to me):  marked by or given to self-indulgence (luxurious tastes; luxurious feelings); of, relating to, or marked by luxury.

OLA has a number of sellers this month offering luxury at an affordable price.  What am I talking about?  Vintage scarves, of course.  A scarf is an inexpensive way to change your entire fashion look.  They can be worn on the head or any part of the body; they can be folded, twisted, knotted, tied, and draped about one's body to add a bit of color.

Vintage scarves are often made of silks, cashmere, alpaca, mohair and other luxurious natural fibers.  Vintage scarves are often made by hand (the edges are hand-rolled; fringe hand-tied).  Thus, most every scarf is unique.

In the 1970s, I was a buyer of scarves and fashion accessories for a large, local and fine department store.  It was then that my love affair with scarves (and all fashion accessories) began.  I am pleased to offer OLA shoppers a few from my collection.
29" Square, this scarf is a beauty, one of my samples that I got to keep, so I know this one has never been worn.

Trimmed in Bright Green and Featuring what appears to me to be Bright Red Birds at each corner; this has always been a favorite scarf.
Look at the pictures to see this fabulous Vintage scarf.  It has been in my collection for years.
Note this scarf is not square--but RECTANGLE   30" by 34"

Want to know something else about scarves?  Even the most expensive can be folded into an envelope.  Vintage scarves make fabulous gifts!  Easy to mail, non-breakable.  Lasts for a lifetime, too.

Why waste your time and energy fighting the shopping malls to find just the perfect gifts this season?  Shop OLA instead.  Use the search function to find exactly what you are looking for, or just browse though our many shops.  You never know what you will find on OnlineAuction.com!

Until next time, happy shopping,

Old Whitman Publishing Co. Children's Books

Old Whitman Publishing Co. Children's Books

Whitman Publishing began in the 1930s when Western Publishing Co. decided to devote an entire section of their publishing house to children's books, puzzles, and greeting cards.

I have been an avid collector of Whitman books since I was a child, and am pleased to offer the following selections from my collection.  Most of these are considered First Editions, and are in good condition, since I purchased them mainly for display.

The newsprint pulpy pages are common to all of these Whitman books, and many have colorful covers. I love to help my customers save money by combining shipping costs for multiple purchases.

Vintage Books make Great Gifts!  Young & Old alike enjoy old books!  The Whitman books are becoming quite collectible, and can be had inexpensively.

Until next time, Best to you!  Classic_Chloe

Today is the day . . . . . Go VOTE!!!!

Today is the day, folks!! November 6, 2012!!

Today is the day that YOU get to make your voice heard . . . but you need to go to the polls!!

No matter who you are voting for, I hope you get out there and make your choices.

This has been a very nasty campaign, by all sides. Millions of dollars spent and, in my opinion, generally wasted. But that is todays campaigns.

Tomorrow morning, it will be over. I hope and pray that when it IS over, WE, the people of this great country can mend our differences and get back on track. After all, if WE can't resolve to work together, how can we expect our politicians to work together?

So, EVERYONE, don't put it off!! Go VOTE!!!

And when you are done, please say a prayer for this great nation.

Thank you!!

Collectible Christmas Ornaments

Collectible Christmas Ornaments

Many folks like to decorate for the Christmas holiday.  When I was a child, we would put up our Christmas tree on the afternoon of Christmas eve, and we would spend the evening decorating it with my family's collection of ornaments and lights.  On January 1, we would spend most of the day taking our holiday decorations down and packing them up for the year.

For a number of years now, it seems as if holiday decorations are going up sooner (like by Thanksgiving), and coming down later (perhaps by Easter).

When our daughter was growing up, we decorated our house inside and out, but since she has pretty much grown up, and is living on her own, we have found ourselves doing very little to celebrate Christmas.  It is just too much work.

For most of my life, I collected vintage Christmas holiday items.  I have been selling off my collection on OLA in recent years.  If you collect old Christmas ornaments, check out my OLA store, Classic_Chloe.

Vintage Christmas ornaments make fine gifts!  Order now to get in time for holiday giving.  Online Auction, Where Buyers & Sellers Meet , is a GREAT Place to find GREAT Holiday Deals!

Thanks for looking,
Until next time,
Chloe

Getting back in gear . . . . . .

Well, we've been gone awhile, visiting my dad who lives in Montana. It seems just the other day that we left but it was actually the beginning of October, so please pardon me while I try to get everything back in shape.

I usually go through a spell, buying the wrong thing at the grocery store because I'm thinking "I just bought this!!" only to find it was at DAD'S house when I get home!! LOL!! And write a list?? Never!! Oh, well, it does get better!!

So, I'm trying to get everything caught up and realized that it is only 7 weeks and a few days til Christmas!! So, are you looking for something to make? ideas for decorating? cookie recipes? It just so happens, we have a bunch, and I mean a bunch of craft books, magazines, and Christmas cookie cookbooks.

So, if you are looking for ideas, recipes, or just enjoy craft books, take a look in our store . . . we are busily getting things relisted after being gone and always offer combined shipping whenever possible!!

Korsteel Double Jointed Stirrup Irons 4 3/4

These Korsteel stirrup irons are brand new! I bought them several years ago from a popular online tack shop, and unfortunately they've stayed in our tack-box ever since! (It's time for someone to use and appreciate them.)

They remain in the original manufacturer's plastic bag. The stock sticker is attached and reads:
DOUBLE JOINTED STIRRUP IR
SIZE: 4.75" CLR: WHITE

Korsteel irons are heavy weight, hand-polished stainless steel. This pair has rubber covered joints for cushioned comfort, reducing stress on the rider's knees and ankles. The gripper pads are white. This pair is size 4 3/4.

Never used.

For purchasing details, visit the auction for these Korsteel Double Jointed Stirrup Irons!

Equestrian goods and more are available in my store, FleaPirates Plunder,
