Christmas Hint #22 -- Bookbinding

I talk a lot about “being crafty.” Many of my friends sigh wistfully and say “I wish I could knit/crochet/quilt/sew (or whatever) but I just can’t do those things.” Here’s a craft idea that has been overlooked for a long time, but it’s so easy we did it as a class project in 5th grade (it’s not “girly” either).

The craft is bookbinding. It isn't too late to learn this easy craft and get a few done for this year. Hand-bound books can be as simple as sticking pages together with padding compound or as elaborate as making your own paper and handwriting every page in calligraphy. The book covers can be leather, fabric, card stock, etc. The possibilities are endless. The pages can be stitched or glued. Once you start binding books, you'll look at crafting with a whole new vision.

Here is a site with resources for everything you need to know about bookbinding, free.

Here are other crafty items for sale at OLA.
