Seasons and Holidays

This great blog was done by Dusty Corners and at the bottom it says Chateycathey...I just posted it for her...she is the author.

As the holidays are fast approaching, the seasons changing, shoppers and sellers are gearing up for fun festivities.

What is your favorite holiday? My first favorite is Christmas as it has so many fond memories for me, from my earliest childhood years to most recent before my mother passed away. The celebration of Christmas is usually joyous, happy, and sharing

My second favorite holiday is Halloween. This is when you can have fun decorating your home inside and out, create make believe scenarios that can be whimsical or macabre. For years I decorated outside my home with life size witches and scarecrows, adding special lighting to enhance the mood of the scene after the sun set. One year we had lots of children roaming the neighborhood in search for the treats that await them at each door that opened. Much to my delight, my life size witch scared the littlest goblins as they walked by her to and from my door. She did look realistic!

Halloween also brings out the interest in dead things, like bones and skulls. I found this book most interesting on the subject:

The Book of Skulls

Synopsis: The skull is one of the most recognizable symbols of today’s contemporary visual culture. Since its 1970s renaissance in the iconic album designs of bands such as the Grateful Dead, the skull has found its way into the visual vocabulary of urban life, adorning T-Shirts, badges and rock memorabilia as the ultimate symbol of anarchy and rebellion. Repurposed and recast by artists, illustrators and designers, it has become one of the most iconic cultural symbols of our time. In response to this cultural phenomenon, The Book of Skulls presents a cool visual guide to the skull, charting its rebirth through music and street fashion to become today’s ultimate anti-establishment icon. From Black Sabbath to Cypress Hill, skater punk graffiti to Gothic tattoos, from high-couture to Hello Kitty and Dali to Damien Hirst, this book is the ultimate collection of cool and iconic skull motifs. Drawing together artwork from music, fashion, street art and graphic design The Book of Skulls is a celebration of one of today’s most iconic cultural symbols.

At online auction.com, we are celebrating, too! You will find a variety of treats and treasures that are sure to please your shopping palate!

OLA.COM IS NO RUSH SHOPPING FOR THE HOLIDAYS

I have decided this year I am not going to get in to the holiday rush for Christmas gifts. Step children are too old to buy for anyway. They always return what we get them. So sending them money which they can always  use.

Will buy for Brandon who is 7 and for Blake who does not even know there is such a thing as Christmas anyway. Poor baby will probably get diapers, powder and baby wipes LOL. Mom will love that. I have started him a piggy bank that I got from a seller at OLA.COM. And I am making him a blankie to match the booties I bought from another seller at OLA.COM.

This year all my Christmas shopping was done on line. So easy to do. Just get up, have coffee and sit around in my fuzzy warm robe and get on line and shop away. I found all but one gift on OLA.COM. Now that's pretty good that everything I was looking for was on one site.

If you are still looking for gift items the sellers on OLA.COM have great ideas to help you buy for the hard to buy for person. If you have friends or family who love home made items you will find lots of sellers here who make such nice gifts that will not be found in the malls. One of a kind items also. Unique items for the home.

So take off your shoes, put your feet up, get on line and go to http://ola.com/ and have a leisure shopping experience.

Merry Christmas to you and yours from me and mine

Gift Idea Under $10

I think everybody loves to experience indulgence, whether it be by shoe shopping, putting butter AND sour cream on our baked potato, or indulging in our once a year dry martini. Here's a sense of indulgence we all would probably enjoy......a Mocha Caramel.....featuring sumptuous mocha swirled with buttery caramel.  Both are complemented by an undertone of Paul Masson Grande Amber VS Brandy to complete the smooth and flavorful experience.

Cream liqueurs are most popularly consumed over ice, but are also delicious mixed into coffee or poured over ice cream. Guess what I've found that would complement a $5-6.00 small bottle of this heavenly Paul Masson Mocha Caramel Brandy? A pair of genuine Paul Masson mini cups that start at only $2.00. Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas

Sometimes the best gift is the unusual gift.  Here's a couple of ideas.

When it's cold and you've been shoveling the walk or working outside....a bit of warming Christmas cheer is in order.  How about giving a vintage Wild Turkey Pin tied around a pint or half pint of Wild Turkey.  Not that expensive and probably a real treat for someone.
Uncle John's Bathroom Reader The World's Gone Crazy 2010
Wacky facts and stories.....short articles...fun to read.  My husband thinks its the best gift ever!!  Wrap with a roll of toilet tissue and you've got an unusual gift!

This is just a tiny example that you can see at Supergrannys Treasures
