Firefighting Collectibles

We collect firefighting collectibles. This hobby started, naturally, since my husband is a firefighter. We love hunting for firefighting collectibles at antique shops, yard sales, thrift shops, etc. Sometimes people will give my husband something fire-related, because he is a great guy; sometimes he receives gifts for his birthday, etc. Some things he has doubles of, but if I try to get him to part with a duplicate item, it's usually a no-go. I won't even discuss the number of large, vintage fire extinguishers we have in our basement, since we have no room to display them upstairs. We have tried to confine this wonderful collection to one room in our house, but pieces do spill over to other places, as this one room is pretty full.
So here are a few pictures of just a part of our collection of firefighting memorabilia.







I currently have just one firefighting item for sale on OLA. It is a reproduction firefighter shaving mug, shown at the beginning of this post. We are still doing Business

Hi all we just wanted every one to know we are still around, we have been missing out on allot of chats and promoting our OLA store, we have had allot of things going on and not all bad, but very much taking our time, we will not be in the shop making much in the next 30 days but will still have all our wonderful art work in the store for you that are shopping so buy, buy, buy we will still be online and able to sell, we are getting ready to start a build on the back side of our property that will make things allot easier to get things done so hoping to get that done before the weather changes, We have some very nice things in the store and just sent out our latest plaque to vermonter and wanted to say thank you and show you all the wonderful plaque that he will be getting in the next couple of days, also would like to thank those that purchased from me at our last Welcome Home Sale, it looked like things went very well for allot of people.

And to those mom's that have been working real hard keeping track of those kids all summer

Antique A & Z Chain Co. Gold Filled Bangle Childs Bracelet in Excellent Condition with minor wear. This bracelet has a hand tooled Art Nouveau flower design on the front. The Bracelet has a plunger type clasp, and is marked, “A&Z 1-10 14K FILLED.” The Bracelet is approximately 1/4 inches in height. The inside diameter from the clasp to hinge is approximately 2 1/16 inches. I believe that this bracelet dates from between 1905 – 1915, because of the A&Z mark. She came home with me one day because she is just... neat!
Very interesting!
She needs a lot of restoration.
I'll describe her as best I can,
and hope that some collector
will find her as much of a treasure as I do.

Garden History - Chapter 7

Just a short chapter to add some pictures.
This is a close up snap of the bushes we have just under the front porch. This picture was taken this summer just after a rain shower. My husband wanted me to take this snap because the bush looked as if it were laden with diamonds. The lay term name, I believe, is Frizzle. It has beautiful leaves that are colored from a dark purple to a dark green and anywhere in between. It has pretty filly hot pink flowers from spring through the summer. It will grow up to 6 feet so I do have to cut it back two or three times a year. This spring it will, again, need a hard cutting.

These are some of what I call my “man proof” flowers. Day Lilies and some varigated plants on the ends (they have a nice purple flower in the late late summer) and I cannot remember their name. These are hardy enough to withstand mowing, weed eating, neighborhood pets and drought. They are planted around a city Crape Myrtle tree between the street and sidewalk.
