When our kids were very young, none of our friends or relatives had little ones at home, so ours received many gifts that were inappropriate for their ages. I decided to put those gifts away with the Christmas decorations, to bring out the following year.
I also wanted some expensive Christmas toys that we couldn’t afford, but I found them half price the day after Christmas, so I bought them and put them away brand new.
When the following Christmas season came around, we had all forgotten about those items. The kids had a nice surprise and a family tradition was born. From then on, each kid chose one or two presents to put away and forget about until the following year. After that, it was like having 2 Christmases. Getting out the decorations was almost as much fun as Christmas morning.
