El Rancho Casino Hotel Ashtray Las Vegas Opened 1941 Imploded 2000

Hotel El Rancho Vegas opened in 1941. It was the first full-scale casino resort on Highway 91 south of Las Vegas, a roadway that within ten years of the El Rancho's opening would become known as the Las Vegas Strip. Though it did not have the glitz or notoriety of other early casinos, it was nonetheless a Strip pioneer.

The El Rancho, one of the oldest properties on the Las Vegas Strip, was imploded at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000.

This old photo was the aerial view of the newly built Hotel and Casino complex in 1941.

This is what is left of the original complex after the disastrous fire in 1960.

This is a very shiny black amethyst glass ashtray advertising El Rancho Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. It is approx 4 1/8 inch diam. A delightful addition to your Hotel Casino Gambling memorabilia collection.

Another piece of history gone forever which makes collecting important.  Buy vintage.....it will never be made again.

Wow a really cool histery lesson and I love Vegas. Need to stay away from there or we would live in the poor house. I like to gamble

I was sooooo sad to see the Stardust get imploded. We took our daughter there for the last year, to see Rick Thomas the magician. I didn't know they were going to "kill" it till we were eating dinner there and our waiter told us that the restaurant would be closing in a couple of months. I LOVED the big neon sign - that was my favorite...

Some enjoyable history. You are right, all too often, old memories get pushed aside when the new is constructed.
